Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Tonite Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican American journalist. She currently works as an ESPN sportscaster. ESPN, working as anchor for SportsCenter reports and hosts SportsNation. She joined ESPN in 2016. joined ESPN. The daughter of TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is native to two languages. From the age of nine years old, her ability to speak two languages has allowed her to get an employment in Miami as a production assistant at Univision. After this she was hired by she was hired by the CBS subsidiary located in St. Petersburg employed her as a reporter for sports. In 2009 she relocated away from Texas in the Rio Grande Valley where she began her news reporting for KNVO TV 48 Univision. She covered stories about immigration and drug trafficking across both Texas as well as Mexico. The station also frequently asked her to fill in as a sports and weather anchor. Later, she was the anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. In the following years, she was given larger responsibilities. She produced pieces about Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. She also hosted the local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. The show was promoted to be anchor of the sports segment for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In the same capacity she also worked for Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports channel). Antonietta's parents come from Veracruz Mexico. Then, they moved to Mexico City and she was born there on the 22nd of November the 22nd of November, 1985. Her older sister is also hers. In 1992 her family left Mexico and relocated to Miami. The couple divorced shortly after and her mother got married to an architect from the naval profession known as Fabio Fajardo who died from kidney cancer in 2006. On a family vacation in Ohio, the young Collins was able to take a job with her older sister. Antonietta was a senior in high school, yet she had a clear idea of the path she wanted to pursue. So while assessing if Mount Union would be a good fit to her needs, Antonietta went to visit the school. Then she fell in love with the university. The university offered her the opportunity to study a major. She completed her schooling and was accepted into the University as a major studying media and communication studies. Mark Bergmann - her professor - was also the director of WRMU (91.1 FM) which was where she felt at home. He inspired her to have confidence and his enthusiasm for journalism deeply affected her. She, was determined to fulfill the expectations of him and not failed him.
